Buttermilk is very good for health because of its nutrition value and, recipes with buttermilk are a way to healthy eating. Many bakers prefer using buttermilk for baking. Not only because this reduces the calorie count but also the baked items are very tender and have superb texture.
Here are two extremely easy and delicious recipes with buttermilk.
Baked Buttermilk chicken
The ingredients you will need are:
Buttermilk: 2 cups.
Honey: Two tablespoons.
Tarragon Sprigs: One Ounce.
Sweet Hungarian Paprika: One Ounce.
Kosher salt: One Teaspoon.
Onion Powder: Half Teaspoon.
Garlic Powder: Half teaspoon.
Pepper: Freshly ground, for seasoning.
Cut the chicken in half, lengthwise, after thoroughly washing it. Remove the backbone. After rinsing and patting dry, place the halves in a large sized freezer zip-top bag.
Take buttermilk and honey and whisk them together and pour over the chicken in the bag. Stuff around three fourth of the Tarragon sprouts in and around the chicken, seal the bag and leave for at least 8 hours. Leaving it over night is a better option.
For roasting preheat the oven at 375F. Take a deep roasting pan and line it with foil. Take the tarragon sprouts out of the chicken and place them in the pan.
Now take the chicken halves out of the buttermilk and honey mix and place them on top of the sprouts. Mix all the powders and pepper and sprinkle evenly on chicken halves. Bake for one hour until golden. Let it rest for 15 minutes and then serve garnished with fresh Tarragon springs.

To prepare these yummy doughnuts you will need
Buttermilk: 2 cups.
Sugar: 1 cup, granulated.
Flour: sifted, 5 cups.
Baking soda: 2 teaspoons.
Salt: one teaspoon.
Nutmeg: one teaspoon.
Cinnamon: ¼ teaspoon.
Butter: half cup, melted.
Oil: for frying
For glazing the doughnuts you will need.
Powdered sugar: 3 cups.
Vanilla: half teaspoon.
Milk or water
Mix together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and knead with the mixture of buttermilk, eggs and sugar. When soft dough is prepared roll it out on flat surface with the thickness of 2 to 3 inches and cut doughnuts using doughnut cutter. Heat oil and fry doughnuts at 375 F. fry for one minute on each side.
Mix all the ingredients for the glaze. After frying and draining the doughnuts on paper towels, dip in the glaze while hot. Sprinkle with nuts if you like.
