• A tablespoon of an olive oil and butter
• 2 pounds of the beef (the best to use in stew is a piece of the shoulder), cut into medium size cubes
• salt and black pepper to taste
• a twig of fresh thyme
• 2-3 bay leaves along with a cup of finely chopped onion
• a tablespoon of chopped garlic
• a bottle of red wine and a tablespoon of flour to thicken
• You may also add 10-15 baby carrots and mushrooms of the same quantity.

How to make Beef Stew with Red Wine

To cook the beef stew with red wine you need to first preheat the oven at 350° C. Cook the stew in a cast-iron dish.

Add the olive oil and butter and assemble the meat in the dish and season the meat with salt and pepper to taste. Cook the meat on high heat for about eight minutes or until the meat is brown from all the sides on the stove. Once the meat is golden brown add onion and garlic to the dish and cook on a moderate heat for about five minutes. Then add flour to the meat and mix very well to avoid getting lumps. Add a bottle of wine with the bay leaves, a twig of thyme, mushrooms and baby carrots and bring the liquid to a boil.

Put the dish in the oven for about one and a half hour or until the meat is well cooked. Garnish the dish with fresh parsley. The mouth watering beef stew with red wine is ready to eat.
